This quarter’s topic explores how to “Build Impact Through Partnership: Collaborative strategies to buy from social enterprise.”
As our communities navigate a changing political landscape and compounding crises of affordability, climate change, and division, public and private sector purchasers are increasingly exploring how to create social value through spending. This session explores how direct awards and collaborative procurement strategies can support partnerships with social enterprises – businesses which put people and planet before profit.
We will hear from Marc Soberano, Founder and Executive Director of Certified Social Enterprise Building Up, and Corrine Evason, the Sustainable Procurement Liaison from the City of Winnipeg. Both will share insights and explain the procurement practices they leverage to create impact, and how they can lead to successful large contracts for social enterprise. Specifically, we will explore non-profit direct awards and collaborative pilot projects as two key opportunities for partnership and collaboration.
After we hear from speakers, there will be time to discuss the content together, as well as space for networking in virtual tables.
Social Purchasing Partners and BCSPI members will receive calendar invitations to join the event.
