Our team offers expert speaking engagements on social procurement and social enterprise to help organizations leverage your purchasing power. We bring valuable insights from over a decade of experience, including best practices, case study examples, and actionable tools to understand and implement strategies to buy and sell with impact. Whether for conferences, workshops, or panel discussions, our engaging talks are tailored to inspire and equip your team with the tools to create healthy, vibrant communities.
Example speaking engagement subjects include:
1. Social procurement 101. The what, why and some of the how of social procurement to achieve strategic and community goals and make your dollars go further.
2. Social enterprise 101. The what, why and how of social enterprise. This can be tailored for organizations interested in how to plan, sustain or grow a social enterprise, or for purchasers and community intermediaries looking to better understand social enterprise and why it’s the business model of the future.
3. Develop a robust and impactful supplier diversity program. Supplier diversity is an established practice in the US and growing in Canada. Let’s explore how to develop a robust and impactful program that includes social enterprises, Indigenous businesses, and diverse-owned businesses while balancing the complexities of supplier verification.
4. Social procurement in tourism, hospitality, and events. Tourism is big business in Canada and the pandemic highlighted that almost all sectors see value in gathering in person. These are major opportunities to include small, local, and social impact businesses in the supply chains of these sectors to support community well-being.
5. Community benefits in construction: mandate, design and implement. Buy Social Canada has gathered 15 years of expertise to develop a comprehensive guide to support you to leverage construction to maximize community impact.
6. Develop your social procurement journey. Each organization will have different goals and context for social procurement. Explore this non-linear approach to establish the key elements of Learn, Engage, Policy, Action, Measure, and Lead to support your organization to buy with impact.
7. Measure what matters in your supply chain. Explore hands on tools to support a robust measurement and reporting framework so your organization can showcase data-driven leadership in social procurement.
8. From Uncertainty to Opportunity, here is how to Buy Local and Buy Social. As political agendas and changing trade agreements disrupt supply chains and create economic uncertainty, there are opportunities to create resilient communities and supply chains by working with diverse suppliers including social enterprises. We present strategies to find new suppliers, build local economies, and create stability in your operations.
